Open Graph Checker

See how your page looks when it is shared on LinkedIn, X, Facebook and Slack, and get the tags to fix it.

No sign-up. We read the page to fill this in. Nothing is stored.

What you get

  • The card on LinkedIn, X, Facebook and Slack
  • Which tags are missing or too long
  • Whether the share image loads, and its size
  • The tags to paste into your page
  • Whether the page sets og:title, og:description and og:image, and what each platform falls back to when one of them is missing.
  • Whether the share image loads, uses a full https URL, and is at least 1200 by 627 pixels, the size LinkedIn and Facebook need for the large card.
  • Whether the title and description fit, at roughly 70 and 200 characters, where the platforms start cutting them off.
  • Whether twitter:card is set to summary_large_image, the layout X needs to show your image at full width.
Three steps

How to use the Open Graph Checker

1

Enter the page URL

We read the share tags on the live page, which is what the platforms will read too.

2

Check each platform

Switch between LinkedIn, X, Facebook and Slack. A card that works on one can break on another.

3

Paste the missing tags

Copy the tag block into your page’s head, then ask each platform to read the page again.

Why it matters

Why the share card is worth getting right

It is all a feed shows of your page.

When someone shares your link, their followers see the card and nothing else. A missing image or a cut-off title is the difference between a click and a scroll.

Without tags, each platform guesses.

With no Open Graph tags, every platform picks its own title, description and image from the page, and the result is often a bare link or the wrong picture.

The platforms read different tags.

LinkedIn, Facebook and Slack read Open Graph. X reads its own Twitter Card tags first and falls back to Open Graph, so one missing tag can break one platform and not the others.

The image is what breaks most often.

A relative path, an http URL or a file that is too small will quietly drop the picture from the card, and none of them show when you look at the page itself.

What to do with the result

A share card is the only part of your page most people in a feed will ever see, so a broken one costs clicks you never find out about. Fixing one page by hand is quick; keeping every page right as you publish is the harder job. Site Audit checks the share tags on every page it crawls and flags the ones that are missing or broken.

Frequently asked questions

A set of meta tags, such as og:title, og:description and og:image, that tell LinkedIn, Facebook, Slack and most messaging apps which title, description and image to show when your page is shared. X reads its own Twitter Card tags first and falls back to Open Graph.
