What you get
- A picker for sixteen schema.org types
- Required fields first, extras folded away
- Valid JSON-LD, escaped and ready to paste
- What Google does with each type today
- The fields each type needs, with the ones Google requires shown first and the rest folded away until you want them.
- That the output is valid JSON-LD with the schema.org context, a single @type, and no empty fields.
- That values are escaped so quotes and special characters cannot break the script block.
- For Article, Organization, LocalBusiness, Product, HowTo and Breadcrumb, a head start read from the live page.
How to use the Schema Markup Generator
Choose what the page describes
One primary type per page. A product page is a Product, an event page an Event.
Fill the required fields
For some types, enter the page URL and we read what it already publishes.
Paste the block into the page
Anywhere in the head or body, as a script of type application/ld+json. Then test it in Google’s Rich Results Test.
Why structured data is still worth adding
It removes guesswork.
Markup states what a page is, a product, an event, a job, in a form search and answer engines parse without inferring it from prose.
Some types still earn rich results.
Products, events, jobs, recipes, videos, reviews and software can show extra detail in Google results. Others no longer do, and each generator says which.
JSON-LD is the format Google recommends.
One script block, separate from your HTML, that you can generate and replace without touching the page layout.
It has to match the page.
Markup that describes content visitors cannot see breaks Google’s policies. Generate it from what the page actually shows.
What to do with the result
Structured data is the least visible part of a page and one of the most literal: it tells a machine exactly what the page is, with no inference required. The value is highest on the types Google still shows as rich results and on pages answer engines quote. The work that stops happening is keeping it on every page as the site grows, which is why Site Audit checks structured data coverage across the pages it crawls.
Site AuditFrequently asked questions
Structured data using the schema.org vocabulary that describes what a page contains, such as a product with a price or an event with a date. Search engines read it to understand the page precisely, and use some types to show rich results.
