Profound

Answer engine optimization platform

Profound is a dedicated answer engine optimisation platform built for large brands. Its core modules are Answer Engine Insights for how brands appear in AI conversations, Prompt Volumes for what people actually ask AI systems, and Agent Analytics for how AI crawlers read your site, across up to nine engines, including ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Microsoft Copilot, DeepSeek, Google AI Mode and Google AI Overviews.

What Profound does beyond tracking

Past measurement, most of Profound’s product is about acting on what the tracking finds. Agents draft net-new pages, refresh pages that are losing ground and write AEO FAQs, working from your brand kit, knowledge base and prompt data, and nothing goes live until a person approves it and the CMS integration publishes it. Agent Analytics logs how crawlers from ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity and others read your site, and a Shopping module covers product discovery in AI answers.

Classic SEO is not part of the offer. Its product pages describe no keyword research, no backlink data and no technical site audit, and its rank tracking covers AI answers only, so a separate SEO suite is still needed. Agents also run on credits: the Trial carries a small allowance and Enterprise credit packages are priced privately. Enterprise brings SSO, SOC 2, an API and unlimited seats.

AI answer tracking

A brand now has two ways in: a free trial of 7 days or custom Enterprise. The trial runs 50 prompts daily across ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews, but those prompts are fixed and cannot be edited. Enterprise tracks tailored prompts daily across up to nine engines, adding Perplexity, Claude, Copilot, AI Mode, DeepSeek and Exa Search, with no published prompt count or price.

Prompt Volumes sets it apart, reporting what people actually ask AI systems instead of prompts generated from keywords. Agencies have their own route: Agency Growth at $99 a month includes 10 pitch workspaces a month, and each client workspace costs $399 a month for 100 prompts on ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews.

Pros

  • Prompt Volumes reports what people actually ask AI systems, beside tracking across up to nine engines.
  • Agents close the loop from finding to draft, with approval steps before publishing.
  • Enterprise controls on the top plan: SSO, SOC 2, an API and unlimited seats.

Cons

  • Brands have no self-serve paid plan: after the free trial of 7 days, tracking is Enterprise at a custom price.
  • The Trial covers three engines and 50 fixed prompts that cannot be edited.
  • Keyword research, backlinks and technical site audits are not described on its product pages.
  • Agents run on credits; the Trial has limited credits and Enterprise credit packages are custom.

How we researched this page

Every fact about another tool comes from that vendor’s own pages, or from a press report where we say so, listed under Sources with the date we read them. Where a vendor does not describe something, we say so rather than guess.

The cost figures on this page are calculated, not assigned. Our full methodology sets out every rule, what each criterion is worth, and where our evidence runs out.
