The best GEO tools in 2026

By Advik Jain, Co-founder & CEO, Optivus Technologies · Published 11 September 2026 · Updated 15 September 2026

A GEO tool helps you become a source AI answers cite: it finds where you are missing, then helps produce or earn the fix. We reviewed eight and list them in the order our published scoring rules put them, with Veritas, our product, scored by the same rules.

The short answer

Decide first who does the work. Some tools here draft and publish content, some earn third-party citations, and one is a managed service that does it for you.

From is the cheapest published plan that tracks AI answers, with any add-on that tracking requires. Veritas bills in rupees, excluding GST; everything else is in US dollars as each vendor publishes it.

Grounded content, measured in the same place

Veritas tracks five AI engines, then drafts each page from your own documents with every knowledge-based claim cited to its source. It does not do citation outreach.

Which AI engines each tool tracks

On the cheapest plan that tracks AI answers. Most vendors list more engines than that plan includes, so this is what you get at the price shown, not the brochure maximum.

What happens after a tool finds a gap

This decides more than the engine list does. A tracker tells you where you are missing; whether it also writes the fix decides how much work stays with your team.

What would change our verdict

  • A vendor publishing the refresh cadence or prompt allowances we currently cannot score.
  • Any of these tools adding per-claim citation back to documents you supply, which would change how we separate them.
  • A price change or an acquisition, which in this category has been happening roughly quarterly.

Questions people ask

What is a GEO tool?

Software that helps a brand get cited in AI-generated answers: it tracks where the brand appears, and helps create or fix the content, and earn the mentions, that change that.

Is a GEO tool different from an AI visibility tool?

An AI visibility tool measures. A GEO tool should also help you act on what it measures. Several products here do both; the dedicated trackers are compared on our AI visibility tools list.

Do GEO tools generate content?

Many now do. Veritas, GEOforge, Writesonic, Frase and Profound all create or rewrite content. The question worth asking is what the content is built from, because unsourced claims are the least likely to be cited.

How much do GEO tools cost?

On pricing pages read 11 September 2026, from free (AthenaHQ Essential) to $695 a month per brand (GEOforge Dominate) at self-serve prices, with enterprise tiers priced on request. Veritas prices per workspace in INR; see the pricing page.

Frase

Content optimization and AI visibility

Best for: SERP-led briefs and drafting with AI tracking attached

Research, brief, draft, optimise for Google and for AI citation, and publish, with AI visibility from the $49 Starter plan and monthly article caps of 10, 40 or 100.

Frase began as a SERP research and brief tool and now covers the loop from research to publishing: topic clusters, an AI agent that drafts with your brand in context, brand voice, content optimisation for Google, GEO optimisation for AI citation, site audits, backlinks with drafted outreach, Content Guard for ranking decay, and its own FraseCMS.

AI visibility tracking covers ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini and Google AI across its plans, widening as the price rises. It publishes to WordPress, Webflow, Sanity and Wix, and connects to Claude and Cursor through MCP and a CLI.

  • An AI agent that drafts with your brand in context, plus brand voice controls.source, 12 Sept 2026

Writesonic: full reviewA GEO platform that tracks AI visibility, ranks the fixes, rewrites pages and drafts outreach to the sites citing competitors.

Writesonic

GEO platform

Best for: Teams that want prioritised fixes, rewrites and outreach

An Action Center ranks opportunities by citation impact, an agent rewrites pages for GEO, a technical audit reads AI bot visits and outreach is drafted to sites citing competitors. Self-serve plans track three platforms from $79 a month.

Writesonic began as an AI writer and now presents itself as a generative engine optimisation platform. It tracks AI visibility, ranks opportunities in an Action Center by visibility and citation impact, and uses an AI agent to rewrite pages for GEO with FAQ blocks and comparison tables.

It also audits robots.txt, schema, indexing and broken pages from AI bot visits, surfaces the Reddit threads, YouTube videos and listicles citing competitors with drafted outreach, and connects to Google Analytics, Search Console, Looker Studio, WordPress, an API and MCP. It says more than 10,000 marketing teams use it.

Veritas: full reviewDrafts from your own documents with a citation on every claim, beside the SEO and AI visibility tools that decide what to write.

Veritas

Our productCited content, SEO and AI visibility

Best for: Measuring, producing and grounding in one workspace

Tracks five engines, then drafts the page that closes each gap from a knowledge graph of your own documents, with a citation on every claim and a live content score. Keyword research, site audits and backlinks sit in the same workspace. It does not do citation outreach for you.

Veritas is an AI content and SEO platform built by Optivus Technologies. It organises a company’s own documents into a knowledge graph and drafts marketing content from it, attaching a numbered citation to every knowledge-based claim that opens the passage it came from. Claims it cannot trace to your material are left out rather than filled in.

Around the editor it bundles keyword research and gap analysis, competitor and SERP analysis, a live content score, site audits, backlinks, Google Analytics with Search Console, and AI visibility tracking across ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews. Plans are priced per workspace in INR with users included.

What it does

  • Drafts from a knowledge graph of your documents, with a numbered citation on every knowledge-based claim that opens its source.source, 12 Sept 2026
  • A live 0 to 100 content score that updates as the draft is written.source, 12 Sept 2026
  • Keyword research, keyword gap and competitor analysis for the domains you work on.source, 12 Sept 2026
  • Site audits graded for Google and for AI crawlers in one crawl.source, 12 Sept 2026
  • AI visibility tracking across ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews, prompt by prompt, with share of voice against named competitors.source, 12 Sept 2026
  • Backlink monitoring and brand mentions from Content + SEO Premium; local SEO geogrids, LinkedIn and WordPress auto-publishing on Marketing Suite.source, 12 Sept 2026

Pros

  • Every knowledge-based claim in a draft opens the passage it came from, so review is a check rather than a rewrite.
  • Research, writing, scoring, audits and AI visibility sit in one workspace instead of three or four tools.
  • Users are included in a flat workspace price, which matters most for teams of three to ten.

Cons

  • AI answers are re-checked every two weeks, with on-demand checks in between. Several dedicated trackers refresh daily. source, 12 Sept 2026
  • Five engines are tracked. Microsoft Copilot and Google AI Mode are not. source, 12 Sept 2026
  • There is no public API or MCP server. source, 12 Sept 2026

Profound

Answer engine optimization platform

Best for: Deep measurement with agents, for enterprises

The most funded dedicated platform in the category, with prompt volume data, crawler analytics and Agents that draft, refresh and publish content. From $99 a month for ChatGPT only, $399 for three engines, and up to nine on Enterprise.

Profound is a dedicated answer engine optimisation platform built for large brands. Its core modules are Answer Engine Insights for how brands appear in AI conversations, Prompt Volumes for what people actually ask AI systems, and Agent Analytics for how AI crawlers read your site, across engines including ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Grok, Microsoft Copilot, DeepSeek and Google AI Overviews.

It has added execution on top of measurement. Profound Agents create net-new content, refresh declining pages and generate FAQs using your brand kit, knowledge base, Answer Engine Insights and prompt data, with human approval before anything is published through a CMS integration. Profound raised a $96 million Series C at a $1 billion valuation in February 2026.

Passionfruit: full reviewAn AI-native managed SEO and AEO agency: proprietary technology plus in-house experts doing the work for you.

Passionfruit

Managed SEO and AEO agency

Best for: Having AI search and SEO run for you as a service

An AI-native managed SEO and AEO agency rather than a self-serve tool, combining its own technology with in-house experts. Pricing is set after an exploratory call and audit.

Passionfruit describes itself as an AI-native managed SEO and AEO agency. It combines its own technology with in-house experts to deliver end-to-end execution, rather than selling a tool your team operates.

Engagements start with an exploratory call and a personalised audit, and pricing is set per engagement. It reports analysing more than 100 signals per URL with expert review before implementation.

What it does

Pros

  • The work is done for you, which suits teams without SEO or content capacity.
  • Starts from an audit of your own situation rather than a generic plan.
  • Combines SEO and AI search execution under one engagement.

Cons

  • No published prices; everything is quoted after a call and audit. source, 11 Sept 2026
  • No self-serve product or trial is listed. source, 11 Sept 2026
  • An agency engagement means less direct control than operating a tool yourself.

What we compared on5 questions that separate these tools
  • Measure. Prompt tracking across the engines your buyers use, with share of voice against named competitors.
  • Produce. Content built to be cited: structured, specific and sourced, rather than more prose on the same topic.
  • Ground. Whether generated claims trace back to your own material. The research that defined GEO found that adding citations, quotations and statistics made content more visible in AI answers; a tool that invents claims works against that.
  • Earn. Help with the off-site citations and mentions that answer engines draw on.
  • Price shape. Per brand, per seat, per credit or per workspace. The shape decides the bill more than the headline number.

Not ranked, for want of published detail

Passionfruit could be scored on fewer than 5 of the 8 criteria. A total built on two or three flattering criteria says more about the reweighting than about the product, so we leave these out of the ranking and let the reviews speak instead.

Eight rules, each applied to the published facts in the reviews and weighted to a total out of 100. The rules and weights are set out in our methodology.

How we researched this pageMethod, what each vendor does not publish, and the update log

What each vendor does not publish

Where a figure below is missing, the charts say so rather than estimate it.

Frase
  • Frase does not say whether “Google AI” on its plans means AI Overviews, AI Mode or both.
  • Frase Starter includes one seat with no published price for more, so it is not costed for teams.
Writesonic
  • Writesonic does not publish prompt allowances, so it cannot be costed for a set number of prompts.
  • Writesonic does not publish how often it refreshes results.
Veritas
  • Veritas does not publish security certifications, so this page claims none. Ask us directly if your procurement needs them.
Scrunch
  • Scrunch does not publish how often it refreshes results.
  • We found no public security or trust page for Scrunch.
  • Sitecore has not said whether Scrunch will keep being sold on its own after the acquisition.
AthenaHQ
  • AthenaHQ bills in credits, one per AI response, so its plans cannot be costed for a set number of prompts.
  • AthenaHQ does not publish how often it refreshes results.
GEOforge
  • GEOforge does not publish how many seats each plan includes.
  • GEOforge does not publish how often it refreshes results.
  • We found no public security or trust page for GEOforge.
Profound
  • Profound does not publish how often it refreshes results.
  • Profound does not say which plans include its Agents, or how Agent use is billed.
Passionfruit
  • Passionfruit does not publish prices. It quotes after a call and an audit, so it is scored on capability only.

How we researched this page

Every fact about a tool other than Veritas comes from that vendor’s own pricing page, product pages, documentation or announcements. Each one is linked where it appears, with the date we read it.

We build Veritas and use it every day. We have not run paid accounts of every other tool on this page, so we describe what each vendor publishes rather than scores from tests we did not run. Where a capability was not described on a vendor’s pages, the table says exactly that, which is not the same as saying the product lacks it.

G2, Capterra and TrustRadius blocked our automated reads, so any rating shown is the figure the vendor publishes about itself, labelled as such.

Prices and plans change. We re-read every vendor page at least every 90 days and record what changed in the update log below.

The scores and cost figures on this page are calculated, not assigned. Our full methodology sets out every rule, what each criterion is worth, and where our evidence runs out.

Disclosure. Veritas is our product. It appears on this page because it competes in this category, and we have tried to state its limits as plainly as anyone else’s. If anything here is wrong or out of date, write to support@getveritas.io and we will correct it and note the change in the log.

Update log

  1. 15 September 2026Corrected: Frase publishes AI visibility prompt allowances of 50, 200 and 500 by plan, with daily monitoring. Earlier versions said neither was published.
  2. 15 September 2026Rebuilt verdict first: a short verdict with calculated figures, an engine-by-engine coverage grid and yearly cost charts, with full reviews, specs and method folded below. The intro was shortened; no facts were removed.
  3. 12 September 2026Rebuilt as a full review from each vendor’s product pages, documentation and announcements, not only pricing pages, with pros and cons, recent changes, a method section and this log. Added a full review of every tool. Corrected: Profound Agents create content.
  4. 11 September 2026Published.
