How to choose a Writesonic alternative

Writesonic is good at acting on AI visibility for one brand: an Action Center ranks fixes, an agent rewrites pages, and it drafts outreach to the sites citing competitors. No alternative on this page matches that outreach work. Teams leave for other reasons, usually one of three, and each points to a different tool.

The first is engines. Every self-serve Writesonic plan tracks ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews, while Perplexity and Claude wait for Enterprise. Otterly.AI and Scrunch include Perplexity and Copilot on every plan, Veritas includes Perplexity on every plan from $16, and Frase adds it at $129 on Professional.

The second is people. Writesonic allows one user on Starter, two on Basic and three on Growth, which costs $499 a month or $399 billed yearly, with one or two projects. Otterly.AI includes unlimited team members from $29, Scrunch five seats on its $250 Core, and Veritas five users on Business at $125, with one SEO site and up to three connected websites for publishing.

The third is what gets written. Writesonic improves pages you already have. For new articles, Frase drafts with your brand in context but caps output at 10, 40 or 100 a month, and Veritas, which we make, writes from a knowledge graph of your files and cites each claim drawn from them. Profound’s Agents create and publish content too, though brands keep them only on Enterprise after the trial.

Writesonic publishes neither prompt allowances nor a refresh rate, so judge the alternatives on the figures they do state: 15 prompts daily on Otterly.AI Lite, 125 on Scrunch Core, 5 every two weeks on Veritas Starter or 10 on Growth. Before cancelling, close or hand over open Action Center items and save your outreach threads, since no other tool will import them.

AI answer tracking

Writesonic tracks ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews on every self-serve plan and states neither how many prompts each plan covers nor how often they run, which makes it hard to price by the prompt. The alternatives state more. Otterly.AI refreshes daily from 15 prompts, Frase daily from 50 on Starter, Scrunch includes 125 prompts on Core, and Veritas tracks 5 on Starter, 10 on Growth and 25 on Business every two weeks. Profound’s trial runs daily on the same three engines as Writesonic.

For a team of five tracking 100 prompts for one brand, Frase costs $2,244 a year with two extra seats, Otterly.AI $2,268 and Scrunch $3,000, its five included seats covering the whole team. Veritas has no plan that tracks 100 prompts, and neither Writesonic nor Profound publishes a figure to set beside these.

On the cheapest plan that tracks AI answers. Most vendors list more engines than that plan includes, so this is what you get at the price shown, not the brochure maximum.

Perplexity is missing from Writesonic Starter, Frase Starter and Profound’s trial, while Otterly.AI, Scrunch and Veritas include it on their entry tracking plans.

It drafts new articles with an AI agent that keeps your brand in context, scores pages for Google and for AI citation, and publishes to WordPress, Webflow, Sanity and Wix. Its $129 Professional plan tracks Perplexity with three seats and five domains, where Writesonic keeps Perplexity on Enterprise and allows two projects on Growth, at $499 a month or $399 billed yearly.

What you give up: article generation stops at 10, 40 or 100 a month by plan, extra seats cost $29, and Gemini, which every Writesonic plan tracks, needs Frase’s $299 Scale plan. Frase’s backlink tool finds link gaps and drafts outreach, but it does not describe Writesonic’s search for the Reddit threads, videos and listicles citing competitors. Choose it if new articles, not rewrites, are the work.

Best for enterprises that want the deepest analytics and agents.

Its Prompt Volumes data covers the questions people really put to AI systems, Agent Analytics tracks how AI crawlers read your site, and the Enterprise plan tracks as many as nine engines, with unlimited seats, SSO, SOC 2 and an API. Its Agents write as well: net-new content, refreshed pages and FAQs from your brand kit and knowledge base, published through a CMS after a person approves them.

What you give up: there is no self-serve plan for brands, only a free trial of 7 days with 50 fixed prompts on ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews, the same three engines Writesonic Starter tracks, followed by a custom Enterprise quote. Profound describes no citation outreach and no technical site audit. Consider it only with an enterprise budget and a need for prompt demand data.

Lite tracks 15 prompts and Standard 100, refreshed daily, across ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Copilot, and Otterly publishes both the allowance and the cadence, which Writesonic does not. API and MCP access arrive on Standard, and Gemini, Claude and AI Mode can be added for a fee.

What you give up: Otterly.AI stops at content audits, briefs and GEO recommendations, with no agent rewriting pages and no outreach, so the work Writesonic’s Action Center hands you becomes your team’s job. Gemini, included on Writesonic Starter, is a paid add-on here. Pair it with a writer, or keep Writesonic, if execution was the reason you bought it.

Scrunch

Best for teams that want Perplexity and Copilot with five seats.

Scrunch gives a larger team more room than Writesonic’s self-serve plans. Core is $250 a month with five seats, 125 prompts and four engines, including Perplexity and Copilot, which Writesonic tracks only on Enterprise, and further seats cost $25 each. Benchmarks by persona, topic and geography, citation analysis of the sources AI relies on, and a real-time feed of AI bot crawls give a finer view of where a brand appears and why.

What you give up: Scrunch recommends fixes but does not rewrite pages or draft outreach, its content generation is basic, and Gemini, included on every Writesonic plan, is on Scrunch Enterprise. It publishes no refresh rate, and its trial of 7 days needs a card where Writesonic’s does not. Switch if seats and Copilot matter more than execution.
