Jasper AI alternatives

By Priyanshi, CMO · 8 Oct 2026

Jasper is built for brand-governed content at scale, and teams look past it when they need search research beside the writing, or a price that is not per seat. We list the alternatives in the order our published scoring rules put them, with Veritas, our product, scored by the same rules.

The short answer

Stay on Jasper if brand governance across many teams is the job. If you need content that ranks and gets cited, pick a tool with search research built in.

  • FraseFor research, briefs and brand-aware drafting from $49 a month, billed monthly.$49/mo
  • SurferFor drafts that link sources as they write, scored for SEO and AI search.$95/mo
  • SemrushFor a full SEO suite with Content Creation alongside.$199/mo
  • VeritasOursFor drafts cited to your own documents, with keyword research, site audits and users included.$16/mo

How to choose a Jasper alternative

Jasper is built for brand governance: more than 100 agents, a Brand Voice system and a Knowledge Base kept in sync with Google Drive and SharePoint. What it does not describe is classic SEO work. Keyword research, backlinks and site audits are not described, and its GEO agents sit on the Business plan, which is custom-priced and needs a 12-month commitment.

So the first decision is whether search is now part of the job. If it is and the budget is small, Frase is the cheapest step with AI tracking included: research into briefs, brand-aware drafting and tracking from $49 a month, billed monthly, with a site audit in the platform, billed monthly. Surfer suits teams that used Jasper for search articles and now want them scored for SEO and AI search together, with tracking from $95.

If you need a full research suite, Semrush brings over 27.3 billion keywords, backlink analysis, a technical audit and Content Creation, with AI tracking across five engines from $199. Expect per-user fees there as well, from $45 a month for each extra person.

If the worry is what the drafts claim, Veritas, our product, writes from a knowledge graph of your own documents, numbers a citation against every knowledge-based claim and leaves out claims it cannot trace. Jasper’s Knowledge Base lists sourcing and citations but does not show how they appear in output. Writesonic, which began as a writer like Jasper, now concentrates on GEO fixes and outreach.

Pricing is where Jasper differs most. Pro is $69 a month per seat, and more users mean moving to Business. Three people on Veritas Growth cost $78 a month in total, and Writesonic Growth covers three users and two projects for $499 a month, or $399 billed yearly.

Jasper and 5 alternatives at a glance

Jasper publishes no AI tracking price or engine list, so it is not ranked; every alternative here tracks AI answers on a published plan, from $49 to $199 a month.

From is the cheapest published plan that tracks AI answers. The AI search score rates AI visibility and content features by our published rules; it is not a verdict on SEO depth.

Need content that ranks, with claims you can check?

Veritas drafts from your own documents with every knowledge-based claim cited, beside keyword research, site audits and AI visibility. Users are included in the workspace price.

Why teams look past Jasper

  • Pro is priced per seat, and additional users require the custom-priced Business plan.
  • GEO agents are listed on the Business plan, which begins with a 12-month commitment; the Pro plan lists no SEO, AEO or GEO features.
  • Keyword research, backlinks and site audits are not described on its product pages.
  • Its Knowledge Base page lists sourcing and citations but does not describe how citations appear in generated output.

AI answer tracking

Jasper lists GEO agents that monitor citation rates on its Business plan but does not say which engines they cover, how many prompts they track or how often. Every alternative here publishes a tracking plan, and Frase, Surfer and Semrush each include 50 prompts a day, from $49, $95 and $199 respectively.

Veritas checks ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews every two weeks on every plan, and Writesonic tracks ChatGPT, Gemini and AI Overviews on every self-serve plan without publishing prompt counts. At the smallest setup, one person tracking 10 prompts, a year costs $588 on Frase, $936 on Veritas, $1,140 on Surfer and $2,388 on Semrush.

Which engines each tool covers

On the cheapest plan that tracks AI answers. Most vendors list more engines than that plan includes, so this is what you get at the price shown, not the brochure maximum.

Jasper’s Business plan names no engines, while Surfer and Semrush confirm five on their cheapest tracking plans, Veritas four, Writesonic three and Frase one.

The plan, seats and add-ons behind every figure are worked through on each tool’s review: Frase, Surfer, Semrush, Jasper and Veritas.

Each alternative against Jasper

What you gain and what you give up with each, against Jasper. Each tool’s full, sourced review is on its own page.

Frase

Best for the lowest-cost route to a writer that also does search.

Frase homepage

Frase is the lowest-cost way to add search and AI tracking to brand-aware drafting. Its AI agent writes with your brand in context and brand voice controls, but each piece starts from SERP research that ends in a brief, is optimised for Google and for AI citation, and can be published straight to a CMS. It also includes a site audit and link gaps with drafted outreach, and tracks 50 AI prompts daily from $49 a month on monthly billing, with a card-free trial of 7 days.

What you give up: Jasper’s governance at scale. Frase’s pages describe nothing like Jasper’s agent library, Studio or Grid, and article output tops out at 10, 40 or 100 a month. Teams grow by seat, at $29 each from Professional, and Starter’s tracking confirms only ChatGPT. It suits a small team moving from brand content to search content.

Semrush

Best for teams that want a full SEO suite with writing built in.

Semrush homepage

Semrush suits a Jasper team that has been asked to show search results, not only produce content. Content Creation produces long-form, SEO-ready articles from a brief, and around it sits the research Jasper leaves undescribed: over 27.3 billion keywords, backlink analysis, daily rank tracking, a technical site audit and local search visibility. AI Visibility and AI Brand Sentiment cover ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude and AI Overviews, with published prompt allowances of 50 to 200 a day by tier.

What you give up: brand governance and a simple bill. Its drafts are not described as citing documents you supply, extra users cost $45 to $100 by plan, and AI tracking starts on the $199 Starter plan. Now part of Adobe, Semrush is a large suite, and a writing-led team may use only a fraction of it.

Writesonic

Best for teams that want a writer turned GEO platform.

Writesonic homepage

Writesonic started, like Jasper, as an AI writer, and has since turned to how AI answers describe a brand. It tracks visibility, ranks fixes in an Action Center by citation impact, rewrites pages for GEO with an agent, and drafts outreach to the sources that cite competitors. It connects to Google Analytics, Search Console, Looker Studio and WordPress, with an API and MCP. Where Jasper’s GEO agents need a custom Business contract, Writesonic’s tracking starts on a published plan at $99 a month, or $79 billed yearly, with a free trial and no card.

What you give up: team size and brand tooling. Starter allows one user, Basic two and Growth three at $499 a month, or $399 billed yearly, with one or two projects. Self-serve tracking covers three engines, and neither prompt counts nor refresh rates are published. Jasper’s Brand Voice, synced Knowledge Base and 100+ agents have no stated counterpart.

VeritasOurs

Best for teams that need search research and drafts with checkable claims.

Veritas homepage

Veritas is ours. For a Jasper team the drafting works in a familiar way, generated from your own material, but Veritas goes further on proof: every knowledge-based claim gets a numbered citation that opens the passage it came from, and claims it cannot trace are dropped. Jasper lists sourcing and citations without showing how they appear in output. Veritas also adds the search work Jasper does not describe, with keyword research, keyword gap, competitor analysis and a site audit on every plan, and prices by workspace: $78 a month covers three users on Growth.

What you give up: breadth of marketing automation. Jasper has more than 100 agents, Studio for custom agents, Grid for scale and an MCP server; Veritas has none of those, and its AI tracking covers 10 prompts every two weeks on Growth. Large brand teams running many channels should stay.

Surfer

Best for teams that produced search content in Jasper and want it to rank.

Surfer homepage

Surfer fits the Jasper team that was producing search content and now needs it to rank and be cited. Surfer AI writes branded articles and adds links to your own pages and outside sources during drafting, the Content Editor scores each draft for SEO and AI Search at once, and AI Tracker records mentions, sentiment and cited sources across five engines. Discovery is $59 a month, and seats run from one to ten by plan, so adding people does not require an enterprise contract.

What you give up: Jasper’s brand system and its trial. Surfer lists no trial, and its lowest prices need a yearly term. Tracking is not on Discovery; it starts on the $95 AI Search Analytics plan, which covers tracking only, so writing plus five-engine daily tracking means Pro at $219; Standard, at $119, tracks ChatGPT only, weekly. Those links lead to web pages, yours or other sites’, rather than to documents you upload.

Switching from Jasper

  1. 01Export brand voice guidelines, style rules and Knowledge Base documents; they are the part of Jasper worth carrying over.
  2. 02Upload the same product documents to the new tool so drafts start from identical material.
  3. 03Rebuild your most-used agents or templates as briefs or prompts before moving the team.
  4. 04Draft three recent pieces in both tools and compare them side by side before switching.
  5. 05Check where the new tool publishes, and test formatting on one post first.

What would change our verdict

  • Jasper moving SEO, AEO or GEO features onto a self-serve plan, which would remove the main reason search-led teams look elsewhere.
  • Jasper publishing Business pricing and the AI engines its GEO features cover, which would let us cost it like the other tools.

Questions people ask

What is a cheaper Jasper alternative?

On prices read in September 2026, Frase starts at $49 a month billed monthly and Surfer at $59 a month, or $49 billed yearly, against Jasper Pro at $69 a seat. Veritas Starter is $16 a month excluding GST with one user; that includes AI visibility for 5 prompts, and Growth, at $78, tracks 10 prompts.

Which Jasper alternative is best for SEO?

Semrush for research depth, Surfer for writing to a score, and Frase for the lowest-cost research-to-publish loop. Veritas puts keyword research and site audits beside drafts cited to your own documents.

Does any alternative cite sources in drafts?

Surfer AI inserts links to your pages and to external sources as it writes. Veritas attaches a numbered citation to every knowledge-based claim, opening the passage in your documents it came from. Jasper lists transparent sourcing on its Knowledge Base page without describing how citations appear in output.

What do I lose if I leave Jasper?

Brand governance at scale: more than 100 specialised agents, Studio for building your own, a Knowledge Base synced from Google Drive and SharePoint, and Jasper MCP. If several teams depend on shared agents and brand rules, test the alternative on that workflow before moving.

Which Jasper alternative includes keyword research?

Semrush, with a keyword database of over 27.3 billion keywords, and Veritas, with volume, CPC and difficulty from DataForSEO for the keywords you target. Frase covers SERP research that ends in a brief rather than a keyword database.

How we chose4 tests every alternative had to pass
  • Search research beside the writing. Keyword research, audits and AI visibility in the same tool, or a second subscription.
  • What drafts are built from. Brand context, linked web sources, or your own documents with a citation on each claim.
  • Price shape. Per seat, per workspace or per plan, and whether search features need a custom contract.
  • AI visibility at your tier. Which engines are tracked on the plan you would actually buy.
