Semrush
SEO and AI visibility suiteSemrush is an all-in-one search marketing platform covering keyword research, competitor analysis, backlinks, rank tracking, local search visibility, technical site audits, digital PR and content creation. Its keyword database holds over 27.3 billion keywords, by its own count.
Semrush for classic SEO
Semrush centres on the Keyword Magic Tool and Position Tracking. The entry SEO plan, $139 a month, covers 5 websites and checks 500 keywords every day, generous next to suites that update rankings weekly. Backlink Analysis, a Technical Site Audit that looks for problems affecting search and AI visibility, and Content Creation, which drafts articles from a brief, share one account. API access waits for Advanced at $549 a month.
The costs build at the edges. A free plan gives one demo project and 10 reports a day without a card, and paid plans other than Advanced come with a trial of 7 days. Each extra user costs $45 a month on SEO, $80 on Pro+ and $100 on Advanced. Branded client reports are $20 a month each through the Pro Report add-on, and Semrush Local charges $30 to $60 per location a month. Three users with ten branded client reports reach $659 a month on Pro+.
AI answer tracking
AI search tracking begins on Starter at $199 a month; the $139 SEO plan lists no prompt allowance at all. From Starter up, prompts are checked daily, 50 to 200 a day by tier, across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and AI Overviews, with Prompt Research and AI Brand Sentiment alongside. Semrush’s wording does not settle whether AI Mode or Copilot are covered.
One marketer tracking 50 prompts on Starter pays $2,388 over a year, and a team of five on Pro+ with four extra seats reaches $7,428. A standalone AI Visibility Toolkit sells for $99 a month, but Semrush does not publish how many prompts it tracks.
Pros

- SEO, AI visibility, content, local search, digital PR and reporting from one account.
- Free Semrush Academy courses with certificates, and agency add-ons such as branded reports and Semrush Local.
Cons
- Daily prompt tracking starts on the $199 Starter plan; the $139 SEO plan shows no tracked-prompt allowance.
- Additional users start at $45 a month each on top of the plan fee.
- Content Creation generates from a brief; the features page does not describe citations back to documents you supply.
